  5.    WILDCAT! maintains messages or E-mail in different areas of the BBS and
  6.    these areas are referred to as conferences.  Each conference usually has
  7.    an entirely different message topic or theme.  There are 3 basic types
  8.    of these conferences, Local, Echomail and Netmail.  The Join a Conference
  9.    option offers you the ability to change from the current conference to
  10.    any available to you based upon your security level.  Selecting this
  11.    option presents the following sub-prompt.

  15.    Below is a description of the available options.

  17.           [0-200]  - Range of conference numbers available to you
  18.           [L]ist   - List of available conference numbers and descriptions
  19.           [H]elp   - Displays this Help screen

  27.    This command is used to leave the current conference and move to another.
  28.    A conference is simply a section of the BBS with a single message base
  29.    different from any other conference.  A certain conference may or may not
  30.    allow file transfers depending on the configuration.  If allowed, file
  31.    transfers may draw files from any area you have access to, even if it's
  32.    from another conference.

  34.    Basically, there are three types of conferences, Echomail, Netmail and
  35.    Local.  Below is a description of the different types.

  37.        Echomail -
  38.             Refers to messages with a defined topic, shared with other
  39.             BBS's across the nation.  All messages are considered public.
  40.  
  41.        Netmail -
  42.             This conference type is used to send private mail to a
  43.             specific user on a certain BBS in one of the existing
  44.             networks.  There is a cost involved with this option and
  45.             requires a previously established account balance before you
  46.             will be able to enter a message.
  47.  
  48.        Local -
  49.             Messages saved in this type of conference, will stay on the
  50.             BBS and won't be transmitted anywhere.  This is normally used
  51.             for saving general messages pertaining to the callers and
  52.             local activities on the BBS.  Private messages are supported
  53.             in this type of conference.

  55.    When the Join Conference command is selected, the following sub-prompt
  56.    appears:

  60.    Below is a description of the available options.

  62.        [0-200] -
  63.             These are the actual conference numbers available on the BBS.  If
  64.             you are unsure of what the conference number is, selecting [L]ist
  65.             will display all those available to you.

  67.        [L]ist -
  68.             When this option is chosen, the system will display a list of
  69.             available conferences.  This will be a complete list based upon
  70.             your security level, not just those previously selected with the
  71.             [U]pdate Conference Scan/Read function.

  74.             Displays this Help screen.
